The Awakening ~ A Spring Retreat

Sunday 13th September
10am-6pm
$160

As the earth stirs from winter’s rest, we gather to welcome the return of light. With the arrival of spring, we see the emergence of new life across the land- buds swell on branches, seeds beneath the soil arise, birds return to call in the early morning, and the first signs of creative abundance appear.

Join James and Sophie at Jauma Farm for a seasonal day-long wellness retreat, gathering community in connection with the land and the ancient wisdom of nature’s cycles. With spring rituals, uplifting yoga, nature immersion, nourishment, rest and conversation, we honour the season of creativity, germination and new beginnings.

There will be space for both movement and stillness, reflection and celebration — a chance to slow down, notice the season changing around us and consider what is beginning to emerge within you. The Awakening Retreat is the spring counterpart to our autumn gathering, The Golden Turning. Where autumn asked us to harvest, release and draw inward, spring beckons us outward, toward light, growth and renewal.

The day will include

~ Arrival circle with coffee, tea and morning snack

~ Energising spring yoga practice in the farm studio- all levels of experience welcome

~ Long table shared vegetarian lunch from the garden

~ Farm mindfulness walk through the awakening orchard, vineyard and forest

~ Nature immersion and connection with the land

~ Seasonal rituals and spring creations

~ Afternoon restorative practice

~ Journalling, meditation and quiet reflection

~ Guided Jauma wine tasting at the cellar door, with afternoon tea and time with new friends to close the day

Jauma Farm retreats are an intentionally small gathering of just 12 guests, allowing for a slower pace, genuine connection and an intimate experience of the farm. Retreats are an adults-only offering.

Come as you are.
Make space for spring.

We look forward to welcoming you to Jauma Farm.

Farm retreats

Our day-long farm retreats are grounded in experiences of self care, community and connection to the land. Hosted by James & Sophie Erskine at our organic farm on forty acres of hillside country, each retreat weaves together yoga practice, meditation, forest bathing, seasonal rituals, nature immersions, and soulful conversations that invite reflection, philosophy and presence.

Retreat offers space to slow down, reconnect with nature, and share meaningful moments with like-minded humans. Eat organic, seasonal shared meals from the garden. Walk, stretch, breathe and rest to nurture body and mind. Conclude the day with a cellar door wine tasting to nourish the senses, and celebrate the beauty of gathering.

Your Facilitators

James and Sophie have been guiding yoga classes and retreats over the past 6 years at Jauma Farm, and holding regular community practices at the Forest Range Hall.

Sophie Erskine

Sophie's yoga teaching journey began in 2017 with trainings in Vinyasa yoga, Hatha yoga, and philosophical study. She facilitated in yoga studios in Adelaide, before moving her offering to the Hills, sharing yoga with the local community.

"Yoga philosophy has helped shape the way I see the world and the interconnectedness between all things. Practice has supported me through pregnancy and motherhood, and now I see practice as an opportunity to become deeply embodied, moving with intuition and self compassion, to find the balance of strength and transformation, with softness and surrender, and remember my connection with the earth and all things in it"

James Erskine

James has practiced yoga for 20 years, with his journey beginning in Ashtanga yoga. In 2019 James completed studies and teacher training in traditional Hatha Yoga.

His offerings are an extension of his daily yoga ritual, exploring posture, breathing technique, meditation and mantra. James's classes are deeply restorative and inwardly focussed, nurturing practitioners with space to stretch, strengthen and relax the body, quiet the mind and cultivate inner peace.

We pay our deepest respect to Peramangk and Kaurna people, the traditional custodians of the land where we farm, work and live. We acknowledge First Nation people's ongoing spiritual connections, land care and cultural history that has existed here for many thousands of years, and still does to this day. We offer our respect to elders past and present. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
